Barry Barbe
Owner / Operator
Barry Barbe graduated from Johnson and Wales Culinary school in Charleston, SC after starting as a vocal music performance major.
He and his wife, Lori, moved to Prescott in 1988 and have 4 kids. Barry has owned many other restaurants in the Prescott over the years. Currently, he has El Gato and Torme (an Italian Bistro, featuring fresh pastas and unique Italian dishes.)

Likes: His dog Mel, helping the community, yellow notepads and decorating El Gato for holidays.
Hates: being called 'Chef', the word 'just', phone calls that could be emails, and flannel.
El Gato
Barry opened El Gato in December 2004. Back then Barry was young and full of hope and inspiration. He created something that Prescott didn't have at the time, a cool Tapa restaurant where people could enjoy themselves.

Since then, Gato hasn't grown much ( given the limitations on the space) but it still serves as a delightful meeting place. Instead of moving into a larger space and losing some of what makes Gato so special, Barry decided to keep it here on Goodwin St. While this limits the amount of people we can have at one time, it really does add to the atmosphere and charm that makes Gato, Gato.
